THE JOGOOS PICK A POINT IN NJERU

SC Villa played out a one all draw when they visited Busoga United on Thursday evening in match day 23 of the Startimes Uganda Premier League. 19th minute goal from Charles Lwanga for the Jogoos and 82nd minute goal from the King’s men Moses Logono closed the day.

From kickoff , the Jogoos displayed their attacking intent with a forward movement, eager to create scoring opportunities. In the 10th minute, Charles Lwanga had a chance to put his team ahead, but his shot sailed above the crossbar, leaving the fans on edge.

Undeterred by the missed opportunity, SC Villa continued to press forward, earning a corner in the 12th minute. However, Sekiganda’s header narrowly missed the target, denying SC Villa the breakthrough they desired.

Despite their dominance in the attacking third, SC Villa struggled to break the deadlock until the 19th minute as Charles Lwanga capitalized on an assist from Abas Kyeyune to give SC Villa the lead.

As halftime approached, SC Villa held onto their slender advantage, buoyed by Lwanga’s early goal. However, the second half proved to be a more challenging affair as Busoga United fought back valiantly.

Despite SC Villa’s continued efforts to widen the score gap, they were unable to find the back of the net. In the 82nd minute, Moses Logono struck for Busoga United, leveling the score and setting the stage for a tense finale.

With the final whistle, both teams settled for a hard-fought draw, each taking home a valuable point.

Reflecting on the match, Midfielder Abas Kyeyune remarked,

**”We had come for a win but we failed to convert the chances we created. A draw is not bad; however, a point is something we can build on going into the next game.”**

Looking ahead, SC Villa will turn their attention to their next fixture against Vipers SC at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, on April 9, 2024.
