MATCH REPORT: SC VILLA EASE PAST UPDF FC TO IMPROVE POSITION ON THE LOG.

SC Villa secured a dominant victory against UPDF FC on a cloudy Tuesday afternoon in Matchday 14 of the Startimes Uganda Premier League. Hosting their final home game in the first round before the January break, the Jogoos initiated relentless attacks, starting with Charles Lwanga’s early chance saved by UPDF’s goalkeeper Wasswa in the 3rd minute.

Juma Ramathan received a yellow card in the 6th minute for a foul on UPDF’s Muwanga. Kafumbe’s attempt from a free-kick at the edge of the box in the 10th minute didn’t find its mark.

In the 16th minute, the Jogoos were in full possession, and UPDF’s goalkeeper Wasswa Yusuf was sent off for handling the ball outside his area. Despite Abas Kyeyune’s chance in the 22nd minute going inches past the left post, the game intensified.

The boys continued their attacking play, leading to a penalty in the 26th minute as Vuni handled the ball in the box. Kakande stepped up and converted from the spot in the 28th minute, giving SC Villa the lead.

In the 32nd minute, an early substitution saw Sekiganda Ronald replacing Juma Ramathan. Another goal followed as Hakim Kiwanuka’s shot deflected off UPDF’s goalkeeper Okidi into his own net.

Approaching halftime with a 2-0 lead, the rainy afternoon at Wankulukuku set the stage for a compelling second half. The delay due to the obscured pitch markings didn’t deter the teams, and play resumed.

Kakande continued his goal-scoring prowess, securing his brace in the 47th minute with a nice assist from Charles Lwanga. Coach Dusan made a double change in the 62nd minute, bringing on Elvis Ngonde and Hakim Mutebi for Semugera and Hakim Kiwanuka, respectively.

In the 74th minute, Owori and Kiwanuka Rogers entered the game, substituting Patrick Jonah and Charles Lwanga. The match concluded with a resounding win for SC Villa, marking a positive start to the new year.
