SC Villa hosted regional side Synergy FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 on Sunday, February 18th, at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku.

In the 10th minute, The Jogoos displayed a full attack, aiming to open the scores, with Charles Lwanga missing a chance to meet Onzima’s cross.

By the 12th minute, Onzima’s shot went wide after a well-executed buildup with Ngonde Elvis.

The 20th minute saw a promising attack from SC Villa as they began utilizing the wings more frequently.

In the 25th minute, Charles Lwanga received a free cross from Kiwanuka, but Synergy’s keeper managed to punch the ball out of the area.

Another chance arose in the 30th minute as Charles Lwanga’s header bounced above the crossbar following a nice cross from Owori. Despite half an hour of play, there was still nothing to separate the sides.

However, just before halftime in the 44th minute, Charles Lwanga scored, opening the score for The Jogoos after some impressive interplay.

The second half started with a bang as @HakimKiwanuka1 marked his territory with a splendid solo effort in the 46th minute. SC Villa extended their lead in the 50th minute as Onzima Peter found the back of the net, assisted by Charles ‘Neymar’ Lwanga. In the 62nd minute, @HakimKiwanuka1 secured his brace with another goal. Substitutions were made in the 63rd minute by Dusan, bringing in Otim Andrew, Reagan Mpande, and Gavin Kizito.

A notable substitution occurred in the 69th minute as teenager Junior Niwamanya made his debut, replacing Arnold Odong. The 75th minute witnessed another goal for SC Villa as @reagan_mpande1 opened his Jogoo account with an assist from Otim. Despite a chance by Junior Niwamanya being ballooned in the 83rd minute, the young players Otim and Junior kept the defenders on their toes. An offside goal by Otim Andrew (Osimeni) was scored in the 86th minute.

The match concluded with a full-time victory for The Jogoos against Synergy FC, securing their place in the round of 16.

“I am happy that I made my debut today and kept a clean sheet. I thank the team for their hard work and for scoring many goals against our opponents,” noted Jeans Braddy Wokorach.

“We didn’t underestimate our opponents today, despite them being a third division club. We knew it wouldn’t be an easy game, so we followed the coaches’ instructions diligently. Now, we’ll prepare for our next fixture in the UPL,” added Braddy

The Jogoos will return to action on Saturday, February 24th, in the Startimes Uganda Premier League against Vipers SC.
