The Jogoos had a short trip to Wakiso at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium for match day thirteen of the Startimes Uganda Premier League against Wakiso Giants FC. The match also marked SC Villa’s last match of the year 2023.

In the early minutes, the teams set a good pace, showing enthusiasm for a competitive match. Kakande took a shot at the 10th minute, but Wakiso Giants’ goalkeeper Sekagya punched it away, and the Jogoos missed the opportunity for a rebound.

As the game progressed, SC Villa maintained a forward movement, gaining more touches in the opponents’ box area. In the 25th minute, Sekiganda was fouled not far from the box, and Kafumbe stepped up for the free-kick. However, Wakiso Giants’ goalkeeper punched the ball, leading to a corner.

The first half concluded with a goalless score at the break. After the recess, Sekiganda’s shot went inches above the crossbar in the 50th minute. In the 60th minute, Charles Lwanga scored a goal, putting the Jogoos ahead with a good assist from ABAS Kyeyune.

“I am happy that the team managed to get all the needed points in the game. I am as well happy for having contributed to a goal and also getting the man of the match award. I believe we did whatever we had to do, and where we failed, we return to the drawing board and correct the mistakes.” – Abas Kyeyune – the day’s star of the match.
In the 65th minute, Coach Dusan made his first changes of the day, bringing on Semugera for Bogere and substituting Sekiganda with Hakim Kiwanuka.

The match concluded with Jogoos securing a valuable 3 points on the road.

The manager, Dusan Stojanovic, talked to this website and said, “Both teams were good; however, we had prepared well to see that we win the points today. Winning away is not an easy task, but I thank the boys for the character shown. The points gained today will push us forward to even get more wins. I thank the Jogoo family for supporting us throughout the 90 minutes of the game.”

Next up for the Jogoos will be hosting Bombo side UPDF FC on Tuesday, 2nd January 2024, at 4 pm.
